One two-month voyage around the Australian Coast has been cancelled following the tragic passing of an older lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a distant tropical isle.

The passenger had been hiking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the cruise ship, but separated from the excursion for a pause. The liner sailed away leaving her and came back after some time after the crew discovered the woman was missing.

A large-scale hunt discovered her remains the following day.

Officials are investigating the incident, together with law enforcement and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer announced that passengers and personnel on the ship were told that the rest of the journey had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and earlier technical problems".
